Nature's Splendour
A pleasant one and a half hour drive from Kathmandu, Nagarkot is an invigorating
getaway with excellent opportunities for nature walks, short hikes, mountain
biking, rafting and pony rides. The drive itself is through a picturesque
rural scenery of terraced rice fields and green pastures.
Clinging to the Valley's eastern rim at an altitude of 2,175 metres, it used to be the nature retreat of the royals in the past. The thrilling and unobstructed panorama extending from the Annapurna in the west to the Everest in the east is the biggest bonanza.

Majestic Fort
A testimony to the grandeur of Newari architecture, The Fort resort stands
tall amidst pme trees and organic cultivation. All 36 rooms are Iuxurious
by definition. A bar, library, multicuisine restaurant, and abundant greenery
sum up the ambience at the Fort. The main building has 14 rooms while the
rest are distributed in environment-friendly cottages. There are many options
available depending on your level of physical fitness and the bend of mind.
Treks to Changu Narayan temple, Sankhu, Bajra Yogini with return journey by
jeep would be the best option.
The temple of Changu Naravan houses a 5th century statue of Lord Vishnu surrounded by more images dating back to the 9th century. One can also explore Nala/Panauti/Namo Budha, which is one of the finest Newar settlements dating to the 15th century. Indreshwar Mahadev temple is one of the best examples of early Newari style architecture.
The Fort organises day excursions to Dhad Gaon, Gairi Gaon, Nala Bhagbhati, Karunamaya and Banepa also. One can also drive to the Chinese border from here.
